What Is The Feminist Organization for Rebel Geek Empowerment?

F.O.R.G.E. is a society of geeks who believe in the support and inclusion of all within the geek community. Women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, the differently abled: everyone who wants to geek should get to geek. Period. We at FORGE love to geek in lots of different ways; our definition of geek includes, but is certainly not limited to, someone who loves to game, create, read, write, watch, and cosplay. We love our fellow geeks, but we know that this community is not always as welcoming as it should be. Gatekeeping, harassment, dismissal, and other forms of exclusion are common. We want better for every geek.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to create a safe space online and face to face in the geek community for all who want to collaborate, create, and celebrate with other geeks. We will accomplish this through the FORGE website, where geeks can “meet,” discuss, and plan; through holding workshops and meetings; through our presence at conventions and other gatherings; and through hosting and attending events that support our mission of inclusivity for every geek.

The Ruthless Geek

The Ruthless Geek loves gaming (tabletop, role, video), writing, reading, going to the movies, and watching tv. She loves everything geeky, but feels sometimes that trying to be a woman and a geek at the same time can be rough. She wants everyone to know that it’s ok for geeking to be for everyone. If we can imagine new worlds, space travel, aliens, elves, sentient computer systems, robots with feelings, and superheroes, we can probably figure out a way to imagine a world in which we can all geek together and be welcomed, safe, and appreciated.

Creative Troublemaker. Fueled by coffee. Always in sassy pants.

UberDorkGirlie has been a proud rebel geek her entire life, including forcing her mom to repeatedly put her hair in Leia buns which she would wear with her Wonder Woman Underoos. From podcasts to college classrooms to con panels, she’s fought to encourage all to embrace their inner geek and take joy in whatever that geek loves.

Her co-pilot is a Wookiee. She will knit for tattoos. Lesley Knope is her Patronus.
